Exhibit by Jen Erickson
Jen’s drawings are inspired by science, memories and the means in which our culture visually represents data. Her work combines oil painting, drawing and printmaking techniques in a unique and unexpected way. She builds up layers of oil paint and graphite and then uses an etching needle to meticulously carve into the layers of media, exposing the layers of its history.

Artist Statement
The slightly unfinished appearance is what Jen strives for, noting that if one more mark was added, the entire drawing could become something else entirely. The work straddles the line between in-progress and resolved, and she finds satisfaction in their own imperfect reality.
