Panorama

Exhibit by Meghan Spielman

Panorama is a body of weavings that portray an abstraction of a landscape through geometric patterns. The large-scale works break down the vastness of a valley or plain into segmented parts, built from intricate and ordered structures.

Artist Statement

With archetypal shapes as my building blocks, I often reference the graphics of historical American quilts and coverlets. I am interested in their patterns’ ability to evolve into a visual code over time, indicating a time and place as well as the vision of the maker. Ultimately, I aim to leave a mark or code of my own, a reflection of my surroundings and experiences.
